Editing iPad entries in Feed Status

Summary

This guide outlines recent updates to the Feed Status workflow, with special focus on the Edit iPad Entry modal and fed amount corrections. The guide is structured to help Feedlot Managers and Feeding Crew to understand when and how to apply these updates, where to find the functionality, and rules to follow for correct usage.

Overview of Updates

This release introduces enhancements across the following areas:

• Feed Status (editable fed amounts after delivery)
• Edit iPad Entry modal (original vs. new fed value entry)
• Manual Feed Entry (MFE) restrictions
• Rollover logic (Forced and Auto)
• Feed Status color coding logic

Where to Find the New Features

Feed Status > Pen Information by Load and Ration: ‘Fed’ field and tooltip

Edit iPad Entry modal: Accessed by clicking an editable ‘Fed’ field post-delivery

Load Information section: Reflects updated fed values

Feed Call page: Updated Fed column based on Feed Status edits

MFE page: Displays revised fed entries for each feeding number

Editing Fed Amounts After Delivery

Once an amount has been delivered and logged, the ‘Fed’ field in the Pen Information by Load and Ration section becomes editable.

• Clicking on this field opens the Edit iPad Entry modal.
• The modal shows:
  • Original Fed: Value originally recorded by the iPad
  • New Fed Amount: Field to input the updated fed value

Note: The 'Fed' field is non-clickable if no amount has been delivered after the feed call was created.

After Delivery:

Using the Edit iPad Entry Modal

In the modal, the following behavior applies:

• The Submit button is disabled until a user changes the New Fed Amount field.
• Once changed, Submit becomes enabled.
• The new fed amount is rounded to the nearest tenth (e.g., 4098 becomes 4100).
• After submission, a confirmation message displays:
  “New fed amount updated successfully”
• The Cancel and 'X' buttons close the modal without saving.

After submitting:

• The updated fed amount is reflected in:
  • The ‘Fed’ field (Pen Information and Load Information)
  • Feed Call page (Fed column)
  • MFE page (feeding number)
• Variance and color status are recalculated
• Feed charges are recalculated only if billing has not been completed
• No commodity deduction is applied when the update is made via Feed Status

MFE (Manual Feed Entry) Restrictions

• Users cannot decrease the fed entry amount for feedings submitted via iPad through MFE.
• A message directs users to make such changes from the Feed Status page.
• MFE is limited to increasing or editing MFE-only entries.

iPad-fed Entries and Rollover Logic

Users can edit iPad-fed entries for the current date, which will recalculate the feeding schedule for the respective pen.

 

Forced Rollover

When using Forced Rollover:

• Fed amounts can be updated
• Previously rolled-over amounts will not revert into the next feeding

Example:

• Original Fed: 200 lbs
• Remaining: 300 lbs
• Updated fed amount via Feed Status: 500 lbs
• Rollover Amount becomes 0
• Call 2 is scheduled with 500 lbs

Auto Rollover

Auto Rollover is allowed only if both conditions are met:

1. Delivery meets the variance threshold
2. Leftover amount is less than 50 lbs

Rules Summary: Do’s and Don’ts

Do:

• Edit fed amounts only after delivery is recorded
• Use Edit iPad Entry to adjust both current and past dates
• Expect recalculations of variance, status color, and (if applicable) feed charges
• Use Feed Status to correct fed values if billing has not yet been generated
• Use Auto Rollover only when both variance and leftover amount rules are met

Don’t:

• Don’t edit iPad-fed entries through MFE to decrease the fed amount
• Don’t expect feed charges to update if billing has already been finalized
• Don’t rely on Forced Rollover to correct past rolled amounts
• Don’t expect commodity deduction when editing via Feed Status
