Scale-head installation guide:
There are four settings in the EZ281047 that need to be set to operate with the NextGen AgTech Feed application, plus a final step to connect the iPad to the scale head. The 2810 uses Direct Access Numbers (DAN) to jump directly to menu items, avoiding stepping through the menus to find a setting. With Remote mode on, we communicate with the Cab Control Display.
Steps for setting up the EZ281047 scale indicator:
Step 1: Power-on the scale indicator by pressing the ON button (front upper right)
Step 2: Set Remote to On
- Press “2001” from scale indicator keyboard
- Press "SELECT" button to access the REMOTE setting
- Press “SELECT” button until “ON” displays on the screen.
- Press “ENTER” button to save the setting
Step 3: Set Scoreboard output mode (SCOREM) to "4"
- Press “2101” from scale indicator keyboard
- Press "SELECT" button to access the SCOREM setting
- Press “SELECT” button until “4” displays on the screen.
- Press “ENTER” button to save the setting
Step 4: Set Scoreboard Port (SCPORT) to COM3
- Press “5006” from scale indicator keyboard
- Press "SELECT" button to access the SCPORT setting
- Press “SELECT” button until “COM3” displays on the screen.
- Press “ENTER” button to save the setting
Step 5: Set the PRESET message to OFF
- Press “4012” from scale indicator keyboard
- Press "SELECT" button to access the PRESET setting
- Press “SELECT” button until “OFF” displays on the screen.
- Press “ENTER” button to save the setting
Step 6: Connect the iPad to the Scale Head
Once the four settings above are configured (Remote ON, SCOREM = 4, SCPORT = COM3, PRESET = OFF), the scale head is broadcasting over Bluetooth continuously. There is no separate “pairing mode” to activate on the scale head itself.
Important: Do not try to pair the scale head from Settings → Bluetooth on the iPad. The scale head will not appear in that list. The NGAT Feed app uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which is discovered and connected through the app itself.
- Open the NGAT Feed app on the iPad
- Navigate to the app’s scale head / Bluetooth connection settings
- Select the scale head from the list shown in the app. The default name is TMR-01 unless it has been renamed (see Changing the Scale Head Name)
If the scale head does not appear in the app:
- Confirm REMOTE is set to ON (Step 2 above)
- Check whether another iPad is already connected to this scale head. Scale heads will hold a connection to the first device they pair with and can prevent other iPads from seeing them. Power off the other iPad (or disable its Bluetooth, or have it forget the device) and try again
- Power-cycle the scale head and re-open the app
