Overview
After creating a Ration in Feedlot Manager, you can generate a detailed Ration Load Recipe that provides precise ingredient amounts for a specific load size. This recipe serves as a practical guide for feed preparation staff, showing exact measurements needed to mix the specified Ration.
Prerequisites
- Access to Feedlot Manager system
- At least one Ration must be created before generating a recipe
- Appropriate user permissions for Feed section access
Steps to Create a Ration Load Recipe
1. Navigate to the Rations Page
- From the left sidebar, click Feed to expand the Feed menu
- Click Rations from the submenu options

2. Access the Ration Calculator
- On the Rations page, locate the Ration Calculator button in the top right area
- Click the Ration Calculator button to open the recipe generation modal
3. Configure Recipe Parameters
The Ration Calculator modal will appear with the following options:
- Ration Name: Click the dropdown to select from your existing Rations
- Choose the specific Ration you want to create a recipe for
- Load Size: Enter the desired load size in pounds
- This determines the total weight of feed to be prepared
- All ingredient amounts will be calculated based on this load size

4. Generate the Recipe
- After selecting your Ration and entering the Load Size, click the Generate button
- The system will create a PDF containing your Ration Load Recipe
- The PDF will automatically display for viewing

Understanding Your Ration Load Recipe
The generated PDF includes:
Header Information:
- Date and time of generation
- Selected Ration name
- Specified Load Size
Detailed Ingredient Table:
- Commodity: Lists all feed ingredients (ALFALFA, Fescue Grass Straw, Flaked Corn, Silage, FL 06 RUMAX, etc.)
- % of Ration: Shows percentage composition of each ingredient
- Pounds: Exact weight in pounds for each ingredient
- Pounds (10): Rounded pound values for practical use
- Cumulative Pounds: Running total to verify accuracy
Verification Features:
- Total percentages sum to 100%
- Total Pounds matches your specified Load Size
- Cumulative totals provide double-check accuracy
Important Notes
- Precise Measurements: The recipe provides both exact and rounded measurements for operational convenience
- Load Size Flexibility: You can generate recipes for any load size using the same Ration
- Multiple Recipes: Generate different recipes from the same Ration by changing the Load Size
- Feed Preparation Guide: Use the PDF as a practical reference for accurate feed mixing
