Use this guide to create new users, edit existing user information, and manage user access in your Feedlot Manager system. User Management allows you to control who has access to your feedlot operation data and what level of permissions they have across different applications and roles.
Prerequisites
- Administrative access to the Settings section of Feedlot Manager
- Understanding of the roles and permissions needed for each user
- Email addresses for users being added to the system (Can use placeholder email if you create the password)
- Important: Users must have appropriate role assignments to access specific features and applications
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Navigate to User Management
- From the main dashboard, click Settings in the left sidebar menu
- The Settings menu will expand to show additional options
- Click User Management from the expanded Settings submenu
- You will be directed to the User Management page showing all current users

Step 2: Create a New User
- Click the "Add User" button (orange background, located in the top right corner of the page)
- The Add User modal will open, overlaying the current page

Step 3: Complete User Information
*Fill out all required user details:
- Enter User Name:
- Click in the First Name field and enter the user's first name
- Click in the Last Name field and enter the user's last name
- Enter Email/Username:
- Click in the Email/Username field
- Enter the user's email address (e.g., "johnny@feedlotmgr-demo.com")
- If you enter a placeholder email that does not exist, make sure you create the password for this user
- Assign Roles and Permissions:
- Select the appropriate App from the dropdown (e.g., "Feedlot Manager")
- Select the Feedlot from the dropdown (e.g., "NGAT Demo")
- Select the Role from the dropdown menu. Available roles include:
- Feedlot Manager
- Health Manager
- Cowboy
- Operator
- Feed Truck Driver
- To add multiple roles: Click the "+ Add Role" button to assign additional role combinations to the same user
Step 4: Set Password Options
- Choose Password Method:
- Select "Invite user to set password" to send an email invitation
- OR select "Create password for user" to set a password immediately
- If creating a password:
- Click in the Password field
- Enter a password meeting the requirements: Minimum 12 characters, include uppercase, lowercase, number, and one special character (@$!%*?&)
- Submit the New User:
- Review all information for accuracy
- Click the "Save" button (blue background, bottom right of modal)
- The modal will close and your new user will appear in the Users table
Alternative Actions:
- Click "Cancel" (dark navy button, bottom left) to discard changes
- Click the X icon (top-right corner) to close without saving
Editing Existing Users
Step 1: Locate and Edit User
- From the User Management page, locate the user you want to edit in the table
- Click the edit icon (pencil icon) on the right side of the user's row
- The Edit User modal will open

Step 2: Modify User Information
- Update Name Information:
- Modify the First Name field if needed
- Modify the Last Name field if needed
- Update Email/Username:
- Modify the Email/Username field if needed
- Manage User Status:
- Select "Active" to keep the user active in the system
- Select "Inactive" to disable the user's access without deleting their account
- Note: Users cannot be deleted for record tracking purposes. Setting a User to 'Inactive' will disable that user's access to Feedlot Manager
- Modify Role Assignments:
- To remove a role: Click the delete icon (trash can) next to the role you want to remove
- To add a new role: Click "+ Add Role" and select the appropriate App, Feedlot, and Role combination
- Save Changes:
- Click the "Save" button to apply your changes
- Click "Cancel" to discard any modifications
Password Reset
Resetting User Passwords
- From the User Management page, locate the user whose password needs to be reset
- Click the lock icon next to the user's name in the table
- A password reset popup will appear
Note: The lock icon provides a quick way to reset passwords without opening the full Edit User modal.
Important Notes
User Filtering and Search
Use the filter options at the top of the User Management page to quickly find specific users:
- Name Filter: Search by user's first or last name
- Email Filter: Search by email address
- Apps Filter: Filter by assigned application
- Feedlot Filter: Filter by feedlot assignment
- Roles Filter: Filter by assigned roles
- Use "Clear Filters" button to reset all filter selections
Status Management
Use the status buttons to view different user categories:
- Active: Shows only active users
- Inactive: Shows only inactive users
- All: Shows all users regardless of status
Multiple Role Assignment
Important: Users can have multiple role assignments for different applications and feedlots. Each role assignment appears as a separate row in the user's role table, and each can be managed independently.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues:
Problem: Cannot click Save button when adding user
- Solution: Ensure all required fields are completed, including First Name, Last Name, Email, and at least one role assignment
Problem: Password requirements not met
- Solution: Verify password includes minimum 12 characters with uppercase, lowercase, number, and special character
Problem: User not appearing in list after creation
- Solution: Check status filters - new users are Active by default. Ensure "Active" or "All" status is selected
